The Department of Surgery at the Jordanian Royal Medical Services is proud to provide state of the art surgical services for Jordan and the region and is committed to offering high quality training for surgeons in various surgical sub-specialties to supply the Royal Medical Services in addition to local and regional hospitals with highly qualified and experienced surgeons.
The department has experienced through the past years a major breakthrough in the expansion of surgical disciplines, both in general surgery and surgical sub-specialties. The surgical department constitutes a major cornerstone in supplying field medical units and is proud in participating in numerous medical units that take part in peacekeeping and humanitarian mission forces.
The residency program in the Department of Surgery at the Royal Medical Services is regionally accredited, in addition to a wide international recognition by many European and American institutions.
Department of Surgery duties and functions:
- Providing surgical services in the King Hussein Medical City in all its centers and peripheral hospitals.
- Providing surgical services in all field hospitals both inside and outside Jordan.
- Treating complex medical conditions and high-cost surgical cases transferred from inside Jordan and neighboring countries.
- Play a major and pivotal role in case of mass disasters and major accidents.
- Continue training of surgical residents of Jordan and neighboring countries.
- Training of specialists in various surgical sub-specialties whereas the department is the sole center for training some sub-specialties such as cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, and vascular surgery.
