  1. Are Thoracic and Cardiac surgery the same specialty?
    They are different specialties as cardiac surgery specific for surgeries for heart diseases whereas thoracic surgery treats Lung, esophagus, mediastinal, diaphragmatic and tracheal diseases.
      
  2. How to take an appointment in thoracic surgery clinic?
    Patient can be referred from outpatient clinic or ER. For certain entities patient can be referred from Pulmonology, Gastroenterology or Neurology clinics.

  3. Is the team capable of doing thoracoscopic procedures?
    Yes, all thoracoscopic procedures are done in KHMC.

  4. What is the difference between open and thoracoscopy?
    Open surgery is done through a long cut in the chest wall to gain access to the chest cavity.
    On the other hand, Thoracoscopy is done through 3 small openings, less than 1cm holes using a video camera and special instruments, with the same efficiency of open techniques.

  5. Can a patient without a military insurance be treated?
    There is a special office that take care of the non-insured patient which can arrange appointments in thoracic surgery clinic.
