This is a tertiary service for children with gastrointestinal disorders. It was established in 1983. The Gastroenterology Unit provides a state-wide service in gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition for infants, children and adolescents under 14 years of age.
All endoscopy services Diagnostic and therapeutic are provided including gastroscopy and colonoscopy
The unit has particular interests in inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, oesophagitis, special nutrition and food allergy.
There unit has close links with other general and specialist paediatric units, adult gastroenterology, and allied health services .
